I had the pleasure of photographing the beautiful Barka family, headed by Nichole and Gilbert, at the Los Lunas River Park a couple of weeks ago!

Even though it was early December, the weather was pleasant, and the bright colors the family wore certainly livened up the bosque! We began our session by walking toward the river, stopping between two picturesque trees that overhang the trail for some group photos. The natural arch of the branches created a perfect frame for the family, highlighting their joyful expressions and close bonds.

As we continued our walk through the bosque, we reached the flood ditch where the entire family posed side by side for another photo. This spot provided a unique backdrop, with the natural elements adding a rustic charm to the pictures. Mom, Nichole, and the kids had some fun trying not to slip on the way down, which led to lots of laughter and candid moments that were a joy to capture.

We wrapped up our session by using the windows in the covered patio for some creative group shots. The boys had a blast climbing in and out of the windows, turning the photo session into a fun adventure. Even the littlest boy thought it was great, his infectious giggles adding to the delightful atmosphere of the afternoon.

It was a beautiful afternoon spent with an awesome family! The Barka family’s warmth and energy made the session truly special. Thanks for working with me, Barka family!

Update 9/4/2023:

I’m happy to say that the Barka family is doing well! Nichole now works for Los Lunas Public Schools and is excelling in her position. And, of course, the kids have grown like weeds!

The Los Lunas River Park remains one of my favorite local spots for photo sessions. It offers a great deal of variety throughout the year and has so many wonderful locations for photography. I’ve used this park many times for family, senior, engagement, and maternity sessions, and it never fails to bring me joy. Each visit offers something new and beautiful, making it the perfect backdrop for capturing cherished memories.
