The Johnson Family- Carlito Springs Park in Tijeras, New Mexico

I was honored to serve the Johnson Family by creating their Fall family portraits! This awesome family chose to use Carlito Springs, an Open Space park owned and maintained by Bernalillo County in New Mexico. This park, with its rich history and stunning landscapes, offers a picturesque setting that is perfect for family portraits.

A Hidden Gem: Carlito Springs

Carlito Springs is one of those hidden gems that captures the essence of New Mexico's natural beauty. Nestled in the Sandia Mountains, the park boasts lush greenery, vibrant foliage, and serene water features that create a perfect backdrop for photography. The history of Carlito Springs is fascinating and adds a layer of depth to the experience. Originally a homestead in the early 1900s, it has evolved into a beloved public space that combines natural beauty with historical significance.

An Adventure Worth Taking

Getting to the actual shooting location within the park involves some hiking, but it's an adventure worth taking. The trails are well-maintained and offer breathtaking views along the way. Every step taken on the winding paths reveals more of the park's charm, making it a favorite spot for photographers like me. The effort to reach the shooting spot is rewarded with stunning vistas and an intimate connection with nature that enhances every photo.

Meet the Johnson Family

Michael and Miracle Johnson are truly inspiring individuals. Both serve as pastors in Mountainair, NM, dedicating their lives to their community and faith. Michael also serves our country in the U.S. Navy, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to both his family and his country. The couple met while attending Seminary in Missouri, a testament to their shared values and dedication to their faith.

Their children bring an extra layer of joy and energy to the family dynamic. Capturing their interactions and the love they share was a delightful experience. The Johnsons' story is one of dedication, love, and service, and it was a privilege to capture these moments for them.

Why Carlito Springs is Special

This shoot reaffirmed why Carlito Springs is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to shoot. The combination of natural beauty, historical significance, and the sense of adventure makes it a unique and special location. It's a place where families can relax, connect with nature, and create lasting memories.

If you're looking for a beautiful, serene, and historically rich location for your next photo session, I highly recommend Carlito Springs. The journey to get there adds to the experience, making it all the more memorable.
